Te kwiaty jaśnieją nawet w pochmurny dzień. A ponieważ pojawiają się najpóźniej ze wszystkich irysów, to mogę się nimi cieszyć w czasie, gdy inne przekwitły.

Udało mi się skończyć malowanie tego irysa zanim lunął deszcz i wygonił mnie z ogrodu.

 I managed to finish painting this iris before the rain came and chased me out of the garden.

Na pół godziny przed zwiędnięciem. Half an hour before withering.

Kiedy zaczynałam malowanie, nie byłam świadoma, że te uniesione niczym ptasie skrzydła dolne płatki zwiastują szybki koniec kwiatów. W ciągu pół godziny płatki podniosły się jeszcze bardziej, potem się zwinęły i musiałam domalowywać szczegóły z pamięci. Irysy przemijają w sposób bardzo uporządkowany, dystyngowany wręcz. Widziałam kiedyś na yt film pokazujący w przyspieszonym tempie rozkwit i więdnięcie irysa - niezwykły elegancki spektakl.
 When I started painting, I was not aware that the lower petals raised like bird wings indicated the flowers' quick end. Within half an hour the petals rose even more, then curled up and I had to paint the details from memory. Irises pass in a very orderly, even distinguished way. I once saw a film on YT showing the blooming and withering of an iris in accelerated motion - an incredibly elegant spectacle.

Nieodmiennie zachwycają mnie misterne linie na płatkach irysów. Wyglądają jak kunsztowna grafika.

 I always admire the subtle lines on the iris petals. They look like the exquisite graphics.

To ostatnie irysy w tym roku. Teraz nadchodzi czas róż. Właściwie już trwa.

These are the last irises this year. Now comes the time of roses. In fact, it has already arrived.

Dopóki kwitną - maluję. As long as they bloom, I paint.

 

Poświęcenie. Sacrifice.

 

Malowałam tego irysa z wielkim poświęceniem, gdyż atakowały mnie meszki i komary. Wytrwałam, bo kwiat jest wart uwiecznienia. Poza tym irysy już przekwitają i chcę się nimi jeszcze trochę nacieszyć. Nawet za cenę owadzich ukąszeń.

I painted this iris with great dedication because I was attacked by midges and mosquitoes. I persevered because the flower was worth it. Besides, the irises are already fading and I want to enjoy them a little longer. Even at the cost of insect bites.

Lekkość. Lightness.

 Ten irys kojarzy mi się z tancerką, która stawia lekkie kroki na łące, a wiatr bawi się jej suknią z przejrzystego różowego szyfonu.

 This iris reminds me of a dancer dancing in a meadow while the wind is playing with her dress made of transparent pink chiffon.

Doczekałam się. Finally it blooms.

Białe irysy posadziłam w ogrodzie kilka lat temu. Raz zakwitły, a potem długo nie. Czekałam, wściekałam się, przesadzałam. No i w końcu są. W tym roku aż trzy. 

I planted white irises in the garden a few years ago. They bloomed once and then didn't bloom for a long time. I waited, I got angry, I replanted them several times. And finally they are here. This year there are three white irises in my garden.
